A very nice facial shot of Digit. She has the most unique expressions. I am in love with her ear tuffs. I always ruffle her head and try and play with them, and she cackle-bark-gruffs and swats playfully. Her fur texture is very interesting. It is very similar to human hair in lengths and look, but it is a lot thicker and stronger. Digit is simply an awesome critter.

This is my co-worker Digit from Country Critters. Digit is a Binturong ( Arctictis binturong ).

She was a rescue from Michigan. She was captive born and raised. Her earlier years are not very clear to us. All we know is that she was in the care of a ‘zoo’ ( and I use this word very lightly ) who had her in a very cramped 3ft x 3ft enclosure. They also inhumanely declawed her, as best as we can guess with a straight arm paper cutter, judging by the damage it did. She now only has nubs on her forepaws.

Another gentleman who does ambassador animal programs rescued her from these horrible people, but found that he couldn’t use her in his education programs because Digit doesn’t like being picked up, and was nervous around many people.

She is now a member of the Country Critters family, where we are working to socialize her better and give her the special care she needs because of her handicap. She’s a wonderful animal, and has come a long way since she has been with us.
